This was Giessen philosopher Odo Marquard's firm belief, and it is one endorsed by the new Degussa, which was founded in early 2001 following a merger - after all some of its roots date back as far as the first half of the 19th century.

Important predecessors, locations rich in tradition, tried and tested products as well as fascinating founder and researcher personalities all bear witness to a long and successful corporate history.

Since September 12, Degussa is part of Evonik Industries AG.
